Abu Dhabi has recorded zero Covid-19 deaths among residents who have been vaccinated, the Abu Dhabi Media Office announced.
The announcement was made following the publication of the recent study by the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC), which reveals the significant decrease in the rate of Covid-19 infection after receiving the second vaccine dose and affirms the in the event of an infection, a patient has mild symptoms and does not require admission to hospital or intensive care unit (ICU).
The study found the efficacy of vaccination in preventing hospitalization is 93 percent, while the efficacy of vaccination in reducing the need to be admitted to an ICU is 95 percent.
“The study stated that immunity against Covid-19 is best achieved through vaccination and adhering to precautionary measures, and is multifaceted and not limited to the presence of antibodies. The study also found that immunity is not guaranteed after infection,” the Abu Dhabi Media Office added.
It further revealed that the risk of catching Covid-19 increases as the virus mutates and that the chances of the virus mutating increase with its spread. There is also a possibility that the infection may lead to long-term health complications.
