Dubai is set to see the development of more than 17,000 affordable housing units as part of a major initiative approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The decision, announced on March 12 during a meeting of The Executive Council of Dubai, aligns with the objectives of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

Sheikh Hamdan allocated 1.46 million square meters of land for the project, emphasizing Dubai’s commitment to providing diverse housing options that foster an inclusive and prosperous community. The first phase of the development will cover six key locations, including Al Mueisim 1, Al Twar 1, Al Qusais Industrial 5, and Al Leyan 1.

Designed to support skilled professionals in Dubai, the initiative aims to boost economic growth, create jobs, and enhance access to quality housing. The new units will be available at affordable rental rates, featuring well-designed living spaces with access to essential services and infrastructure. The Supreme Committee for Urban Planning will oversee the project, with implementation by the Dubai Land Department, Dubai Municipality, and other key government entities.

Alongside the housing initiative, Sheikh Hamdan also approved new policies to enhance Arabic language and Islamic studies in private schools and support independent Emirati legal professionals. The education policy focuses on improving teaching methods and increasing the number of Emirati teachers, while the legal initiative allows citizens to work as independent consultants without establishing law firms.
