the Dubai Police recently made a young boy's dream come true by granting him the opportunity to experience life as a police officer for a day. Hussain Yousef Merza, a 13-year-old student, was given the chance to serve at the Al Muraqqabat Police Station and even took a ride in one of Dubai Police's luxury patrol vehicles.
The initiative, known as the 'School Security' program, was organized by the Security Awareness Department of the General Department of Community Happiness, in collaboration with the Tourism Police Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigations and Al Muraqqabat Police Station. Its primary objective is to promote the concept of community policing and raise awareness about laws and regulations among educational institutions, staff, and parents.
Colonel Khalifa Ali Rashed, the deputy director of Al Muraqqabat Police Station, emphasized that allowing students to perform the duties of a police officer aligns with the directives of Major General Ali Ghanem, the station's director. This initiative aims to foster a sense of community engagement and educate young individuals about the role of law enforcement in society.
Sergeant Manal Al Juhari, the coordinator of the School Security initiative at Al Muraqqabat Police Station, highlighted that the program provides students with valuable insights into the daily tasks and smart procedures followed at the police station. Al Muraqqabat Police Station, which was the first traditional police station to undergo a smart transformation, operates as a 24/7 smart station without the need for human intervention. This integration of technology ensures efficiency and enhances the overall capabilities of the police force.
During his visit, Hussain was able to witness the inner workings of the police station and gain firsthand experience of the responsibilities shouldered by police officers. At the conclusion of his day as an honorary officer, Colonel Rashed presented Hussain with a souvenir, encouraging him to pursue his academic endeavors and work towards achieving his future aspirations.
