Emirati astronaut Sultan Saif AlNeyadi has become the first Arab chosen to serve on the International Space Station (ISS) on a six-month mission.
He was handpicked from a group of Emirati astronauts at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in the emirate of Dubai.
AlNeyadi will join NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 MIssion to ISS next year.
He was the back-up for Hazzaa AlMansoori, the first scientific mission to ISS in 2019.
As part of his preparation, he was trained at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre at Star City in Moscow.
