Transport company UBE Express has introduced a 50% discount for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) traveling to or from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Garrie David, president of UBE Express, expressed gratitude, stating, "This is our way of thanking OFWs who continue to help the Philippine economy with their remittances back to their families."
Registration for the discount is available online at the UBE Express website, with walk-in passengers also welcomed. However, only OFWs registered with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) can avail of the promotion, requiring ID verification.
David emphasized the initiative's broader goals, aiming to address transport problems and scams at NAIA. He highlighted the need for solutions to decongest the airport, suggesting alternatives such as buses. Teofilo Guadiz III, chairperson of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), acknowledged transport scams as a persistent issue, promoting buses as a viable alternative.
OWWA administrator Arnell Ignacio issued a stern warning against taxi scams targeting OFWs, asserting, "Those who victimize our OFWs, if you continue that, we will make sure you get your due."
UBE Express operates routes from NAIA to/from PITX, Sta. Rosa, Araneta City Cubao, Ayala Malls South Park, Robinsons Place Manila, Robinsons Galleria, Victory Liner Pasay, with fares ranging from P50 to 300, with OFWs eligible for a 50% discount.
